Oleguer in Barca! Why?

Yesterday, during the game with Bilbao the highly respected Mundo Deportivo published the thrilling news about the signing of the earlier defender of FC Barcelona, Oleguer Presas (32). This is a surely surprising step from the club, since Oleguer who is free agent, hasn't played professional football for almost a year. The "official" reason is that the team lacks defenders, thus the experienced culé might help to solve the problems caused by the injuries.

To be honest, it is really hard to believe that Guardiola's Barcelona need any player of Oleguer's quality. A rumor is circulating in the Catalan capital since the news is published. Sources close to FC Barcelona claim that the board plans a new "Catalan separatist campaign", using the recent unstable political situation of Spain. The Rosell-team hopes that the club can achieve extra benefits from this campaign and might be even more popular in Catalonia. They also predict that the straightforward political step will be welcomed by the foreigner fans of the club.

And this is where Oleguer comes into the picture. Olegeuer is well known for his radical poltical views, and the board thinks that he is the ideal candidate to lead the campaign, he will be the face who smiles on us. The two months playing is necessary to build back Oleguers reputation amongst the fans, and also gives time to see how the Catalans react to the gossips.

I don't know whether this conspiration theory is true or not, but I have to admit it makes sense. Rosell was not known for his political ambitions, but it seems that times are changing.
